The Scene From My Heart’s Window | The Inked Perceptions

Sitting beside the window with a cup of coffee in my hand today, 

I get reminded of my good old days in Sunabeda;

Where there used to be a glass of milk in my little hands

Sitting beside the window in my father’s lap,

I get excited to enjoy scenes from my window

The chirping sound of birds,

The engrossing natural scenery in the spring season,

Differentiating between crows and cuckoos!!!

I get reminded of the huge thick mango tree seen from our window,

The swaying sound of leaves when the wind blows,

Sipping the milk a little, I get engaged with them.

Now comes the turn of my favorite pigeons!

A school of pigeons used to come at a time

To quickly eat the seeds given by my mother….

Being excited to see them, I clung to the railings

In the meantime completing my glass of milk,

I say “COMPLETED” and clap loudly!

With the sound of my clapping, all at a time would flew away…

Stealing happiness from the scenes of my heart’s window

Today, after transfer of my father to Cuttack,  

Sitting beside the window searching madly for the crows, cuckoos, pigeons, mangoes…

The trees and the exhilarating natural beauty,

The pure free air which took my breath away,

The “nature” which made me clung to the railings….

But today, in reality sitting beside the window, I see big buildings, houses, doors, gates,

cemented roads….

May be missing the ‘Jasmine’ who used to sit in the lap of nature!

Today there is window and scene from my window is beautiful and suggests development too

But I remember the scene which is not the scene from my window today!

Sitting beside the window, clinging to my memories, not to the railings……

As there are no pigeons who will excite me to clap!!!!!!!

Sitting beside the window……rewinding scenes from my heart’s window……..

Miss Jasmine Panda is presently pursuing M.Sc. Chemistry from Berhampur University, Bhanjabihar, Odisha, India. She is a Gold Medalist and University Topper in her B.Sc. She was also the M.Sc. Entrance Topper in BU. She is also continuing an internship CSIR-SRTP in IICT Hyderabad. She holds the post of Senate Member of the University for the session 2019-20 in Academic Pursuits. She is a Governor Awardee for Youth Red Cross. 

She has received All-Rounder Award in her 12th standard for excellence in extracurricular activities along with studies. She is a Topper throughout her career. She has been Literary and Cultural Champion in her college days. She has also cracked a campus in Vedanta. She has hosted in numerous events including International events and has been appreciated as an anchor. She has completed Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) from Aurobindo Kala Bhawan under Bangeeya Sangeet Parishad. Besides, she has also done a computer course PGDCA. 

Apart from being a versatile orator and debator, she has been a part of 10+ anthologies till now and loves to pen down her feelings! She is an amiable person interested in both Science and Literature, having a wide variety of interests like painting, sketching, acting, anchoring, debating, rangoli making, taking part in extempore, elocution and many more...Publishing her own book someday is something which she aspires.
