Autumn | The Inked Perceptions

Morning breaks, sunshine golden,
The birdsong plays in the sky.
It’s very own orchestra, audible amplification,
Undisturbed, if only for a short while.

The air fresh, the flavour of Autumn,
Lingering subtly in the air.
That ‘It’s dressing gown and slipper time’,
As the sun freckles disappear from our nose.

Plants in the garden, strain and wilt,
The heat of the sun palliatively weak.
As the wind turns sharper, rapidly cooling
Taunting nature as it creeps in.

The tree leaves transforming colours,
Caramel, honey, ruby rich red.
Like the lipstick shades of the woman we want to be,
Or the one we desire to kiss.

No bare sleeved humans on the street,
They rush by impatient to the elements.
Hands holding take away coffees
Grasping and sipping the comforting affection.

Contemplating Autumn coats and gloves,
Always only discovering half the pair.
Pulling my jumper a little tighter to my skin
Chenille caressing my neck like a lover.

Autumn nights, soon to be Winter,
Then Spring and Summer just as fast.
Grateful of shelter, comfort and love,
Always a warm heart with you.
