Everyone is Talking About Zero Waste But How Do We Practice It? | The Inked Perceptions

EVERYONE’S TALKING ABOUT ZERO WASTE BUT HOW DO WE PRACTICE IT?

Nowadays, natural phenomena are happening just before our eyes. What can we do about it? Who is to be held responsible over this matter? As human beings we strive to live in a safe environment but we ourselves do not create such environment. It may be known as natural phenomena but are they actually as natural as they seem to be? I do not think so. Why are we harming mother nature instead of protecting her? At the end of the day what goes around, comes around means we are going to bear the consequences of mother nature’s wrath.
One of the most devastating problem our globe is facing would be the unruly waste by mankind. Mankind is not only gifted to have been granted with a safe and sound earth but we are also granted with plenty of natural resources that we can benefit from. We are aware that not every natural resources will last for a very long time so we need to make use of it wisely and try to save it or minimize its usage whenever we are able to save them. Additionally, I strongly agree practicing zero waste in our daily life is an initiative that can be taken in order to protect out earth. The idea behind a zero waste society is that we should pay more attention to our environment as well as the resources we are using. Do not just pass by all the signs about recycling but stop and read about it and learn how you can make a change.

First of all, in order to opt for zero waste we should start saving water. At one time, water was used to save us but now it is another scenario where we have to save water. We are aware of the fact that water is an utmost important resource for not only human beings but also for every living creature on this earth. Hence, we have to make use of every single drop of water in our daily life. Did you all know, that a human body can survive three days or more depending on their metabolism without food but a human body can only function one day without water. This proves the utmost importance of water. So why waste when we have the choice to save it in our hands? We can make a difference by changing the way we brush our teeth, do the dishes or even when we water our lawn.

We can practice zero waste if we conserve the usage of energy. I am pretty sure everyone is has heard about solar energy. Solar energy is one the best way we can save our daily energy use apart from using energy saving bulbs at home and switching off the lights when it is not in use. Solar energy is operated with the help of the sun another creation of god which could help us save our earth. We should always opt to explore no-energy alternatives to accomplish our daily chores not the other way around. Trust me by conserving the use of energy we can make a huge difference for our earth and also we do not have to burn a hole in our pocket to pay our monthly bills.

In addition, mankind should also consider donating unused items in good condition. I strongly agree that if in order to go zero waste one has to support the second-hand market. Second-hand market usually sells good quality products at a reasonable costing. I used to have this perspective where I thought items sold at the second-hand markets were low quality, outdated in fashion and it does not portray a classy look if I use the items purchased to a prestigious occasion. Well I was absolutely all wrong. Second-hand market only sells items which can still be used and is in a good condition. The aim of most second-hand sellers is to encourage most people to recycle their items instead of disposing them while their still in good hands. We should also instill in ourselves to think second-hand first when purchasing something in that case we would not waste our natural resources. We should always think wisely before making any kind of decision in our life especially if the decision we are about to make does not only involve us but also our surroundings this way we would bear the betterment of our earth in mind.
Last but not least, we can build a zero waste kit and put in the trunk of your car or carry it with you when you are out so you will always be prepared. It does not have to be large as long as it’s just sufficient for throwing our rubbish into it. A car friendly zero waste kit is far better than winding down your car mirror and throw your waste out of the car. Personally, such an act disgust me because it is so inconsiderate of someone to do this. I mean what if our waste lands on someone else’s car? This is the attitude of human beings is said to be the main contribution towards pollution and harming our mother nature. Thus, we should strive to overcome such problems by setting up our own waste kits in our car or approaching these offenders in a polite manner. A piece of paper stuck in the drainage could cause floods.
At the end of the day, people do not make an effort or even try to because they believe that their actions are too small to cancel out all the bad things that are going on : pollution and global warming. Yet, we forget that even the smallest things count in the bigger picture. If all of us starts making even the smallest change every day, pretty soon we would see some positive results. Start from yourself and be the change you want to see in the world!
